As you may have noticed, I've changed my design into something new... ehh... Well, it's definetely inspired by me going to Cuba the coming fall, and then I searched for something more in my website than just greytones... Hope you like it! Friday, April 25, 2003
Sigg3 o 0 ( The Streets - The Irony of it all )
That's right! What you need after a week of hard work, colliding emotions, social fuckups, is; Guinness Draught served chilled in a glass. mmmmmmm! (Image is from www.guinness.com, used without permission) Thursday, April 24, 2003
Here are a few samples from a thread I'm reading through @ fix.news.en.alt.postmodern (login to FIX here: telnet://fix.no): > REPEAT OF Nietzsche 'S TEXT > >(1) Would you not throw yourself down and gnash your teeth > > and curse the demon who spoke thus? > > > >(2) Or have you once experienced a tremendous moment when you > > would have answered him: 'You are a god and never have I heard > > anything more divine.' > > > >(x) If this thought gained possession of you, it would change you as > > you are or perhaps crush you. > > > >(y) The question in each and every thing, 'Do you desire this once > > more and innumberable times more?' would lie upon your actions > > as the greatest weight. > > > >(z) Or how well disposed would you have to become to yourself and > > to life _to crave nothing more fervently_ than this ultimate > > eternal confirmation and seal? > On this reading there are indeed three possible consequences (but only > two choices of response): > (1) You curse the demon > (2a) You bless the demon and are changed > (2b) You bless the demon and are crushed > > All of this is reminiscent of Christian salvation with a sting. If > you don't accept Jesus in your heart (blessing the demon) then you are > cast into the outer darkness (cursing the demon). The sting is that > accepting Jesus in your heart (blessing the demon) may be a calamity > because you are not, so to speak, up to weight. A few scattered remarks. I. In German, it reads "Wenn _jener_ Gedanke ueber dich Gewalt bekaeme". "Jener Gedanke" is the idea of eternal recurrence itself, it seems to me. N gives an interpretation of the parable he just told. II. Personel of the parable include (1) a demon, (2) a spider, (3) moonlight. III. Does eternal recurrence mean that there is a _first_time_ , an original, of which the recurring instances are 1:1 copies? Does the demon say: _from now on_ ? Are there _occurences_? IV. I would like to dialecticize a bit. There is a concept, eternity. Eternity has two moments, one of which is the moment -- what? AND FURTHER ON: > Now it is also fairly clear that Nietzsche identifies the value that > one places on the demon as being the same as the value as one places > on ones own life. The key point is that I do not; I value my life; I > don't value the demon and his message. Then there's a distinct limit to the value that you put on your life -- you don't value it enough to value the possibility of repeating it eternally. You may feel it's worth one go 'round -- but if that's all, you're treating it as a disposable life: use it once, then throw it into the trash can. I haven't read Nietzsche's text yet, sorry to say, and the posts are four years old, so I don't think the discussion is particulary active as of now. Interesting, though.
Sigg3 o 0 ( Multicyde - Claptrap ) It's hard, though. I've sore legs, sore ass, sore back, and in addition, just to make the picture of a person in utter meltdown complete, I'm exhausted:) But it's great to x-ist, discussions @ FIX reached another level (superior or inferior??) yesturday evening as I got a loot of booing after some critical posts directed towards the oldtimers of FIX. And myself. Well. I'm working as hell, even more than I should, thinking of the deadline just rushing towards me like a hatchet in steel. If I'm lucky I can dodge it just in time.... YEAH! I've done my last mock exam EVER!!! French, though, and it was hard. Since I don't master any other verbal times (??) than present tense, I've a really _floating_ language easier to write & understand.. but it looks as though a five-year-old could have done better, and he or she probably could've... "Les enfants de la nuit, comme des auteurs et des poéts, aiment leurs petites soleils" -speaking of astrology, stars and the children of the night. Also, I've learned that my hand-in in Norwegian is due to Tuesday in two weeks, so I've been reading (P.W Zapffe's) Om det Tragiske (About the Tragical (element) ?) like a goddamn maniac. The physical manifestation of the level of psychological stress caused by this, is, among other things, that I am ill most of the time (sniffing, coughing aso) and I drink too much coffe.. Luckily this is my last great assignment as far as I know, except one in P.E, as I handed in my 9-page written task on Confucius yesturday. I wasn't too happy with the result, though. Nasty logical mistakes and an inconclusive conclusion. I hadn't time to fix it, and that was exclusively my own fault, as my sparetime haven't been exploited as good as it could've been. Too much partying...:P Sunday, April 20, 2003
Look what I found at User talk: Daniel C. Boyer (wikipedia.org) : Here is the issue as I see it. We have to decide if Daniel C. Boyer is important enough for the main namespace. If he is, he should have a real Daniel Boyer article, and the various articles on his works should be allowed. Luckily, Daniel has so far shown the ability to write NPOV descriptions of his own work, which makes the issue a little simpler. If Daniel is not important enough, the articles about his works should be moved to the user namespace. In my opinion, Daniel is important enough, judging by the fact that he has at least one fan (sigg3). After browsing the web, and reading his resume, I think he just scrapes in. lol!
