The Wailers and reggae

Reggae was (and still is in some cases) religious music, preaching the message of the Church Triumphant to people unaware of the movement of JAH people (Exodus). There've been many great people and groups within Reggae, but unfortunately a lot of false musicians also.
The genre grew out of two entirely different music styles, cultural african music and rock. Blended with the deep serious message in Rasta, you've got a powerful, though basic, music telling you about the harsh reality of the people in Jamaica. Reggae wasn't known to the world before the Wailers released their "Catch a fire" album, despite a few "reggae" singels on the British charts. There is no doubt that the Wailers, and especially Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, have played a crucial role spreading the vibes of reggae to the unknowing world.
