Sigg3 o 0 ( Prodigy - Voodoo people )

I just received the most interesting spam-mail ever: mail-order brides. Have you read that Dilbert toon on this mail-order bride Wally receives? It turns out to be a cow. Anyway, thus reads the mail:

Sigg3 o 0 ( "Put your middle finger up for the free market" - DonMartin )

Had my last written exam at senior high today. Yahoo! But (there's always one of those) I'm going to work tomorrow at 10 a.m so, I'm going to take it easy this evening. The doorbell just rang. Is it for me? -Yes. I have to go now, Underzo just dropped by. Later!

Sigg3 o 0 ( DonMartin - Repaint the picture )

Had my second Norwegian exam today, you see we've two official written languages in this arsehole of a country. Well, I wrote six pages on the value of human beings (or lack thereof) and wether it was possible to create peace if peace is non-existent. I've been given a hard time @ FIX for my critics towards (or closer to insulting) logic itself, and I find this very interesting since I am ridden by logical circuits throughout my days. Yet, I find that men not willing to question the ground they're standing on are walking on thin ice. I am, of course, speaking about the principle of contradiction (Aristotle). I'll get back to you on that one.

Also I just ordered a Nico DVD called "Underground Experiences". That's what happens when you're surfing late at night with your bankaccount filled to the brim. Check out this webpage on The Velvet Underground for more info on Nico.

BURN THE FLAG!

That's it! Burn your Norwegian flag! Once and for all, Norway has proven itself unworthy classifications as "liberal" and "intellectual", by letting fear run their own minds. Fear is a result of a lack of knowledge. The cause for my obvious frustration is this debate I just saw on national television (NRK), which concerned the growing fear of muslims in our country. The fear has probably grown out of the latest Al-Quaida videotape, where Norway is mentioned as one of a few new targets of terrorism. Now, I think educated people, not to mention naturally intelligent people above all (not speaking on behalf of Norwegians, but mankind in general by now), should at least know the difference between a regular believer and fundamentalists. I mean, it is a reason we've two different expressions of it, right? In addition, the suffering in the Middle-East is a consequence of tyranny and famine (etc.!!), not belief. Don't forget that all strong beliefs are subjects to exploit, all strong ideals have strong weaknesses.

In the end of the show, they displayed the result of a "vote" they'd going on, where the question was wether the fear of muslims was exaggurated or not. A valuable 21% answered 'yes', while astonishing (and frustrating) 79% answered 'no'. I'm in a lack of words here. I am very disappointed.

Sigg3 o 0 ( Beethoven - Für Elise )

I've just updated MIND THE GAP with another expression: Feminine Uprise!

George Monbiot (www.monbiot.com) just posted this article on his website:
Blair Trashes Africa

Tony Blair has just ensured that Europe and the US continue to promote famine.
Written by George Monbiot. Published in the Guardian 3rd June 2003

Read the article @ www.monbiot.com (click!)!

Here's a quote found on his index-page: "Tell people something they know already and they will thank you for it. Tell them something new and they will hate you for it." Quite right. Clever guy. Worth a look.

Sigg3 o 0 ( Pearl Jam - Wishlist )

I've received a correction from sysop Nixon due to my previous post (look below) concerning the coming sysop-election. The reason why we're having it is not because (a) sysop(s) wants to withdraw, but because there are some people who thinks the sysops of today are granted too much power. All I can do is apologize for this misinformation, and I hope you all can bear over with me.

Now, I'm going to update www.apoet.no. See ya!

I'd my Norwegian written exam today. Went okay. Wrote like 8 handwritten pages on the Norwegian language and purism. That'll do, pig, that'll do. (South Park)

fix.en.democracy: NEW SYSOPS?
There's currently an election going on FIX (Fluxpod Information eXchange), because there are uberusers and sysops that want to withdraw from their godlike possisions in the FIX hierarchy, to become an ordinary user just like you and me. And they didn't see much of that free beer, anyway.. Here's what user Skjaeve is writing to ensure the user's trust and vote in the coming sysopelection:

I wanna be sysop.

Me:

I study physics, at the University of Oslo, at masters-equivalent level. I can't code, but I hack a little anyway, I'm a fairly lazy bastard in most ways most of the time, but not all. I usually have a bottle of fairly good whishy around. I have a green bike and wheigh too much. My primary node is named vladimir. I like linux. I like computer games. I think it's really annoying that my favourite games of seven years past are unplayable on modern hardware. My favourite computer game of all time is Loom. I like stars. I write a weblog. The world is not mine to change. Understanding what I say can be hard, but people get better at it with training. There are many things I would liketo be good at, but is not and will probably never be. I played a violin once. Nowadays I mostly get my music from electronic sources. I joined FIX in 1996. I'm naive when it comes to people and cynical when it comes to politics. I get problems when the two mix. I come from a good family. I read poetry sometimes, but more sci-fi. Encryption is good. blessed is the greek, for he shall inherit the Earth. I want a boat. I spend a lot of my spare time reading popular science and comics. I don't understand Jerkcity, but Bob the Angry Flower and Sluggy Freelance rock hard. I wish people could just be nice, sometimes. I have not done enough to fight the injustice in this world, instead I sink back into a comfortable bubble of unnecessary consumer electronics and other luxury articles the prices of which could keep a starving human alive for months. What does a CD cost, in lives?

Why:

It'll be fun. There are many small bugs around in FIX, nothing serious, which means the old guys don't have time to fix them. I can be nice most of the time. Also I'm on-line many hours most days.

I'll keep you updated on the FIX election, to ensure you the best knowledge to place your vote. Not a member yet? No problem. Visit www.FIX.no or simply log-in for free @ telnet fix.no! New users are always welcome. For a while, anyway... :)

Sigg3 o 0 ( Faithless - She's my baby )

Okay, this year's Monaco was pretty exceptional. Changes to the course made it possible for faster lap times, but the 77 laps went mostly in a normal pace. The first three racers to finish this year was:
  1. Montoya, Williams BMW
  2. Raikkonen, McLaren Mercedes
  3. Schumacher, Ferrari
It was a great race, especially the pit-stop strategies kept secret by all teams, something that added to the excitement. Schumacher could've made second at least, especially as the last 2 laps was slightly rainy, and he kept closing in on his finish opponent Raikkonen to the very end. Some think it was Ferrari's tires that just didn't made it today, but all of this is just speculation. As for the worldchampionship, Raikkonen is in the lead with 48 points, with Schumacher closing in with 44p. It'll be interesting to see wether Schumacher can claim another WC trophy or if his golden days are coming to an end... Can't wait till the next race, Montreal in Canada, which is a highspeed course.
Anyway, congrats to Montoya for his 2nd WC victory ever and last but not least winning Grand Prix de Monaco all in all. You've earned it!
