This is what Yo maté a Kenny from Chile wrote last night on their Demo-EP:
Para la portada del Demo-EP de Yo maté a Kenny se incluir? el trabajo de nuestro amigo noruego el fot?grafo Sigge Åmdal. Una de las posibilidades es su trabajo iconografico "Starchild". Los temas que aparecen son: Metaf?sica, Esquizofrenia Cultural, La Playa, Ni?a, Luces.*

Here's what it means, poorly translated by FreeTranslations.com:
For the front of the Demo EP by Yo maté a Kenny the work of our Norwegian friend, Sigge Åmdal, will be included. One of the possibilities is his icongraphics called "Starchild". The songs included in the Demo-EP are: Metaphysics, Cultural Schizophrenia, The Beach, Girl, Lights.

Sigg3 o 0 ( Ali G - Incredible )

Here's what sysop Nixon (Sysop six) wrote on his campaign for his re-run on the coming FIX election:

Why should you vote for me?
  1. I have staying power. If FIX encounters a (critical) problem (hardware, software, net provider, etc.) I won't give up until things are working again.
  2. I'm regularly on FIX more than 12 hours a day.
  3. I know how just about everything works on FIX. Hardware, software, scripts, configuration, workarounds, etc.
  4. I'm good at organizing things.
  5. I have good taste.
  6. I have sufficient skills in most relevant areas - design, writing, programming, sysadmining. Oh, and people skills.

Possible reasons why you might not want to vote for me:
  1. I'm very busy, I don't have very much time to set aside to work on FIX.
  2. I don't always listen to reason once I've made up my mind about someting.
  3. I represent the decadent powers that be.
  4. I'm slightly dyslectic.

My visions:

I hope that with a few new sysops on board, and perhaps a new admin system (wherein anyone who wants to be, and does the work required) can be an admin, we'll be able to get FIX moving technologically again.

In the short term, this would include updating FIX so that it's more in tune with today's internet. Stuff like updated and less ambitious web pages. Removal of obsolete features and menus, fewer personal questions on login, etc. Consolidate what we have, so to speak.

In the longer term... I'd like to be part of the crew of sysops that decide what the longer term plans will be. All I can say is that it's my experience that effort put into FIX by the administration results in immediate and positive results with regards to activity, user happiness (as I subjectively measure it) and general social conditions. It's my hope that a more self governed FIX will provide itself with this kind of input "automatically", so that a static wavering sysop core won't be able to slow things down like they have in the past.

Sounds fair enough, if you ask me, but first let's see what Nadagast (another sysop and FIXmud admin) promotes himself with:

It's all about me, isn't it?

Well, I'm running for sysop, again. Why should you vote for me?
  1. I'm one of the old sysops. That means I have experience.
  2. I am dedicated to the community aspect of FIX, being one of the most prolific message writers.
  3. I'm almost always online.
  4. I'm willing to do hard work to get things fixed (see below).

Why not, then?
  1. I'm confrontational.
  2. I'm one of the old sysops, responsible in part for the current situation on FIX, which you might not like.
  3. I tend to talk about my sex life and genitals in public chat channels.

So what will I do if I am elected?

I'll continue much in the same way as I have up until now. I'll be active on FIX, write messages, do administrative chores, like ejecting people, killing their accounts, etc.

Additionally, I want to work on FIDEL. I will do it by myself, or with help from others, but I think it is definitely time. With some effort put into it, I don't think it should take more than perhaps 6 months to get something that works well enough that we can migrate FIX to it. On the other hand, I think I will probably work on that regardless of whether or not I'm elected sysop.

There you have it. Vote for me. If you want.

The question we all are wondering about (@ FIX appearantly:) is wether I, Sigg3, will run or not. As you might have noticed I spend some time logged on to FIX, right now in example, but since I'm going to Cuba I think it's rather pointless to get elected to a Sysop position if I don't have the possibility to be as much online as I have now. Don't worry, Sigg3 dot net will be updated, but that's about it for my internet use.. I just found out that E11even is also running, and here's his campaign:

After playing around with the idea for a few weeks since Nixon announced it, I've decided to run for one of the three available sysop slots. The main reason: I have a tremendous amount of respect for FIX; one of the best damn things I've found online, and I want to keep it that way.

To reach your decision whether to vote for me, take each of these points and figure out how it rubs your brain. If you like more than you dislike, please give me one of your six votes:
I am not Norwegian but hold my own.
Some will see beyond this and realize I am American. Seriously, I think FIX should extend beyond (while staying rooted _in_) its beginnings in Norway. (see future points for more) I thought I would get this one out of the way since most of the voters are in fact Norwegian. I think, however, that I have earned the respect of many on this board in one or another.

I provide an interesting dialectic force ('adversarial thinker') coupled with the ability to see beyond my own errors ('flexible thinker'). As a user contributing to the community, this is important; however, when I become sysop this will become even more important. It means I will vigorously smack down irrational requests for improvement, but if they are feasible or an existing structure/feature makes no sense (and this is proven), I can allow for proper evolution of the system.

I am technically competent with a diverse multidisciplinary background.I can get things done on multiple levels, including coding and beyond coding.

Will work for sex and free beer. Upon getting my FIX-bitches and superior European brew, I can go for hours in making this board a better place for you. These are the lifeblood of my creative and destructive forces (both are necessary).

I have big visions for FIX. I happen to think something _like_ FIX can be one of the biggest assets of the Internet, but not in its current form. FIX has a nice retro feeling to it, which makes it special, and some of that should be preserved; however, some of its greatest elements can be expanded to make it a unique atmosphere. No I am not speaking of making it completely Web-integrated (like some bulletin board systems tried a few years back and failed).. what I am speaking of:
  • Expanding its functionality to make a coherent, expandable interface.
  • Exposing some of this functionality (old and new) as services in a robust and secure manner.
  • Allowing users, admins, and sysops (at appropriate levels) to tune the sources and sinks of these services.
  • Making FIX a highly customizable and unique experience by tapping into its metaphors of Flux and Information Exchange.
  • Tying FIX to other inventive projects (integration), so that it can grow beyond the efforts of just the sysops/admins.

I can add momentum to any project. Given the responsibility and power, I can ensure anything I believe in gets done. I will be a good addition to any team of sysops that form, even if it is the current sysops now plus me.

I'll help FIX grow beyond just the technical aspects. I expect to draw in a larger userbase so it is a good mixture across the world -- not just europe. I think FIX can also raise money (but not an unnecessary amount) by various means, and likewise also help its userbase (great ideas like the hardware donation program).

I can help reorganize the existing information, and make new information crop up faster. There's a lot of data and info buried in FIX's message bases. I'll make sure that is more easily extracted, from multiple dimensions, beyond just find.fix.no (think: database, SQL, etc).

I'll locate and enroll the proper resources. All of these promises will have more to do with finding the right people to help build some of this (the new open admin idea).

I'll be very receptive to your input. That excludes stupid feelings suggestions -- these I will most likely ignore. And the pr0n engine, the FIX prostitute service, the FIX biochemical lab, etc.

Add it up, and vote for me or not. I will most likely become an admin if not elected. Also, feel free to openly brutalize. Let's have some fun with this.

Surely some interesting reading there. Also notice that E11even is the only candidate that is actually going to do something about the "Free sex and beer" slogan, or at least he says he will, and that's everything you can demand and expect from a FIX Sysop-wannabe. Not bad!

Just to set things straight when it comes to the coming election at FIX, here's the new login message:

FIX To Become Democracy
We are holding elections to decide who will be sysops at FIX. Nominations are going on in fix.en.democracy. We are also discussing the details of the elections there. You'll find the current status using the new "elections" command.

Here's the reply I got on Molly's birthday-mail, one of Pauly's little things going on: Hey sigge, thank you for the birthday shoutout!! And yes, I know who you are... And people thinks it's strange that I'm paranoid!...

I've also learned something today, even though I just got out of bed: Christianity is an euphemism for Christianism.

Added a link to Skjaeve's homepage, one of the active users of FIX.

"When writing about a term rather than USING the term to refer to the thing to which it refers, one should italicize it." Did you get it?

Here's what I read in today's newsletter from Kaada.no: Hey folks, we've just finished recording our CLOROFORM cd !! It makes us sad that nobody is going to hear it before the release, September 1st. So let's change that: download "Hey You, let's kiss.mp3". Send this address to everyone you know, if you want to push these strivin' musicians up the ladder, and spread some Cloroform love! Thx!
